Welcome to the ACST's Europa Project

(one day ours will look like this we hope!)

Members of the Aero Club of Southern Tasmania back in 1997 purchased a Europa XS monowheel aircraft kit  (Kit Number 351).  The aircraft is owned by a company, ACST Sport Aviation Pty Ltd, which has the club as a 50% shareholder with the remaining shares owned by some 11+ members.

The Europa is a composite (fibreglass) construction kit, with two seats, removable wings and tailplane. It is a little unusual as it has a monowheel  undercarriage that is retractable, this makes it very streamline giving it a fast cruise speed (up to 140 knots) and also gives it good short field performance.  The Europa is the most successful British design since the Tiger Moth.

Check out : http://www.europa-aircraft.com/  for more info on the aircraft

We get together most Wednesday or Thursday nights to work on the Europa, regular builders are Darren Turner, Wayne Moore, Michael Strudwick, Norbert Langer and Peter Waite.  Previous work was undertaken by Andrew Richardson, Peter Fenton and other club/project members.
