Report 1. Governance Principles for Regional Natural Resource Management
We are please to advise that Report 1. Governance Principles for Regional Natural Resource Management has been completed. We would like to acknowledge contributions from representatives of our partner regions, Department of Sustainability and Environment ( Victoria ) and Department of Natural Resources (NSW), and the helpful comments from David McCormack, Megan McFarlane, Frank Vanclay and Emmo Willinck.
We are particularly grateful for input from the expert panel participants – Dr. Jenny Bellamy, Professor Brian Head, Professor Helen Ross and Professor Frank Vanclay.

The primary purpose of this report is to analyse and identify the elements of good governance for regional NRM. The key output from the analysis is a set of principles that can be used as a basis for evaluating and benchmarking regional NRM governance.
The Report is available on our web site at: http://www.geol.utas.edu.au/geography/nrmgovernance/reports.htm
Regional Interviews and Workshops
Planning is underway for the Research Team to interview key NRM personnel in each of the nine regions in March and May 2007. People to be interviewed will include designated contacts in each region as well as Board members and key staff. A group meeting will also be held with remaining Board members. In addition, state and Australian government partners will also be interviewed. The purpose of the interviews and group meeting is to help us develop some indicators of good governance.
